2 crashes at intersection claim 1 life, injure several others

Intersections are notoriously dangerous sections of roads in Michigan and elsewhere. Even with traffic lights and stop signs, anyplace where traffic crosses or converges creates a substantial level of risk. Nowhere is this more evident than at one intersection in Van Buren Township, where two separate vehicle accidents occurred in less than three hours. The crashes resulted in one fatality and several injuries.

Accident details

The first crash occurred around 7 a.m. It happened at the intersection of Bellville and Ecorse. A cyclist was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The cyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No word was given as to whether the driver of the vehicle suffered injuries.

Around 9:30 a.m. at the same intersection, two commercial vehicles collided as authorities were investigating the first crash. One semi driver was ejected from his truck and died at the scene. The other truck driver suffered serious injuries. Police are now investigating that crash.

Pursuing compensation

The parties injured and the surviving family of the driver killed in these accidents may be able to recover documented financial losses. Police will try to determine who caused the accidents and whether carelessness or negligence played a role. Those who suffered injuries or losses may pursue claims for monetary damages by filing personal injury or wrongful death claims against the drivers deemed at fault. To understand their rights and options and increase their chances of achieving favorable results, they should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney in Michigan for assistance.
