Despite taking all precautions behind the wheel and following the rules of the road, motorists in Michigan and elsewhere can still become involved in car accidents due to the reckless or negligent actions of others. When innocent victims suffer injuries in crashes caused by someone else’s wrongdoing, they reserve the right to pursue personal injury claims against the alleged at-fault driver. Four senior citizens may be considering their options for compensation after suffering injuries in a multi-vehicle crash recently.
Accident details
According to reports, the crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 2. It happened during rush hour at a very busy intersection in Detroit near the Van Dyke and Eight Mile intersection. The crash involved a U-Haul truck and at least five other vehicles.
One of the vehicles contained four senior citizens. Two had to be extricated from the wreckage, and all four were sent to the hospital for treatment of relatively minor injuries. Reports state the driver of the U-Haul was driving erratically and jumped a curb, drove along the sidewalk and struck a Subaru SUV. The truck then also apparently stuck several other vehicles, although no word was given as to whether there were any other injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
Legal recourse
The four senior citizens injured in the crash are likely facing medical bills and other damages associated with the accident. In order to increase their chances of obtaining the maximum amount of compensation the need, they should work closely with an experienced personal injury attorney in Michigan to advocate for them. A lawyer will fight hard to protect the clients’ rights and entitlements and help them obtain the justice they deserve.
